at Martin enters her first season as
assistant coach and recruiting coordinator
for Saluki women’s basketball.
Martin comes to Carbondale from Kishwaukee
College in Malta, Ill., where she spent six seasons
as the associate head coach for the Kougars
women’s basketball program. Her primary duties
with the Salukis will be recruiting, but she will also
assist in game planning and player development.
Martin helped coach Kishwaukee players to a
combined seven NJCAA All-America honors with
eight WBCA/State Farm All-America nods. KC also
produced 14 All-Region and 11 All-Conference
selections with three conference and region MVPs
with Martin on the staff.
KC appeared in the WBCA Top 25 Honor Roll in
all six of Martin’s seasons with the team ranking
in the nation’s top five in team GPA in five of those
seasons. The Kougars were named Honorable
Mention NJCAA Academic Team of the Year in
2010 and 2012. KC players earned a combined
28 Academic All-Conference honors with four
Academic All-America selections during Martin’s
stay.
In addition to her basketball duties, Martin also
served six years as Kishwaukee’s assistant to the
athletic director. She also spent two seasons as an
assistant coach for the Kougars volleyball team and
two years as the team’s director of operations. KC
volleyball won the NJCAA DII national championship
in 2007 and 2008 with Martin on the staff, and
finished fourth and sixth in the nation respectively
in 2009 and 2010.
Martin has also been involved in working
at basketball camps all over the country since
2006.
Martin played basketball collegiately for two
years at Kishwaukee and two years at Trinity
International University. She was named Academic
All-Conference both seasons at KC while earning
NJCAA Academic All-American laurels in 2005. She
ranks second in KC history for career rebounds and
12th in career scoring.
At Trinity, Martin earned All-Conference honors
in 2006 after setting the program’s single-season
record for rebounds. She earned Academic All-
Conference honors in 2006 and 2007 and was
named an NAIA Academic All-American in 2007.
Martin earned her bachelor’s degree in sport
and wellness management from Trinity in 2007
and her master’s degree in sport management
from Northern Illinois in 2010.
