place overseas. A fewmonths earlier, the
Green Bay Packers rolled over Kansas
City in the first Super Bowl. The Beatles’
renowned “Sgt. Pepper’s” albumwas still
two months away from its release date.
Meanwhile, people in the small town
of Carbondale, Ill., were overcome with
Saluki fever.
