Luke Scheidecker enters his second year on the
Saluki Basketball staff as the team’s travel coordinator
after spending the last four years with the SEMOmen’s
basketball program.
As an undergrad, Scheidecker served as the team
manager from 2009-11, overseeing and organizing
the daily responsibilities of players and managers.
In 2011, he took on the added title of Director of
Basketball Operations.
In his capacity as operations director, Scheidecker
coordinated all aspects of team travel. He also
handled scheduling for non-conference games,
coordinated recruiting trips and official visits, and
organized film exchange.
Some of his other administrative tasks included
serving as liaison for visiting teams and booster
relations, maintaining head coach Dickey Nutt’s
schedule, monitoring the basketball budget and
serving as director of the coaching clinic.
As camp director in 2011 and 2012, Scheidecker
marketed Coach Nutt’s individual and team camps,
oversaw a working staff of 62 individuals, while
working with 42 high school teams. Attendance at
SEMO camps doubled in his second year.
Prior to joining the staff at SIU in August of 2012,
Scheidecker served as an interim assistant coach at
SEMO for one month.
His coaching background includes serving as an
assistant in 2010 for Next Level Global Sports, where
he ran workouts for kids ranging in age from 5-18. He
also served as sixth-grade head coach of KC Premier
Basketball, working for Fresno State assistant Byron
Jones.
Scheidecker earned a bachelor’s degree in
general studies with a minor in sports management
from SEMO in 2012.
