Senior Student Manager

Carlton Fay returns to campus this
season as the team’s Senior Student
Manager while he works to complete his
undergraduate degree.
The 6-foot-8 Fay finished his playing
career in 2011 ranked 27th all-time
at SIU in scoring with 1,165 points.
He is one of 52 former players under
consideration for this year’s Saluki
Basketball All-Century team.
As a senior, the Hennepin, Ill.
native was named Honorable Mention
All-Conference and NABC District 16
SecondTeam. He led the team in scoring
and ranked 8th in the league (12.7 ppg).
Even more impressive, Fay ranked third
in the MVC in scoring (15.4 ppg) in
conference games. He scored in double
figures 21 times, including a 33-point
outing vs. Illinois State on Jan. 9.
A clutch player throughout his career,
Fay hit the game-winning shots his senior
year with two seconds remaining vs. UNI
on Jan. 1, and 12 seconds left vs. Illinois
State on Jan. 9.
Fay came on strong at the end of
his junior year when he averaged 20.3
points in the last four games. In that span,
he made 28-of-43 shots from the field
(.651) and 19-of-21 from the free throw
line (.905). He recorded a personal-best
38-point outing versusWestern Michigan
on Feb. 20, which was the most points by
a Saluki player sinceTroy Hudson scored
39 points in 1996.

Chase Heins suffered a career-ending
knee injury as a freshman last season
and is now serving as an undergraduate
student assistant coach.
At nearby Class 2A Trico High
School, Heins averged 13.1 points and
8.6 rebounds as a senior. He led Trico
to a 26-5 record his senior year and
played for former Saluki player and coach
Shane Hawkins. The Pioneers lost in the
Regionals to Pinckneyville.

SWAN
Undergraduate Student Coach
Experience:

At SIU:
1st year
Josh Swan suffered a career-ending
knee injury late in the 2013 season and
is serving as an undergraduate student
assistant coach.
The Atlanta native had come on
strong during his sophomore year at
SIU before his injury. He made 24-of-47
(.511) shots from the field in conference
games after going 10-for-29 (.345) in
non-conference games. He also scored
the go-ahead basket with 90 seconds
remaining in the win over Green Bay..
As a freshman in 2012, Swan played
21 games and made nine starts. He came
off the bench to score a career-high 15
points vs. Illinois State on Jan. 1.
At Pace Academy High School, Swan
scored more than 2,000 points in his
career and averaged 21.2 points per
game as a senior. He was named First-
Team All-State, First-Team All-City and
was a McDonald’s All-America nominee.
