chase in the outdoor season, where he finished third with a
time of 9:06.94...Competed in three different events in five
meets during the indoor season (Mile, 3000m, 800m)...
Three combined top-ten finishes...Competed in two events
in five meets during the outdoor season (1500m and
3000s)...Notched five top-five finishes, including a vic-
tory in the 3000m steeplechase at the Ole Miss Invitational
where he clocked in at 9:25.57.
2010-11:
Missouri Valley Conference Elite 18 honoree...
Competed in five meets in each the indoor and outdoor
season...Earned nine top-five finishes...Placed first in the
steeplechase at the Joey Haines Invitational...Participated
in the MVC Indoor and Outdoor Championships in four
events...All-MVC performer in the 3,000m steeplechase.
2009-10:
Competed in six indoor and six outdoor events
during the season...Qualified for the USATF Junior Cham-
pionships in Des Moines, Iowa, where he finished ninth in
the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:28.38...Won the
steeplechase at the Ole Miss Invitational...Finished second
in the mile run at the McDonald’s Invitational...Recorded a
season-low steeplechase time of 9:16.71 at the prestigious
Jesse Owens Track Classic.
Cross Country:
2012:
Named MVC Scholar-Athlete...Ran in five meets for
Southern...Finished in the top-30 twice...Best finish of 11th
came at the Saluki Invitational on Sep. 22...Best time in
the 8K came at the Bradley Classic on Oct. 12 with a time
of 25:15.
2011:
Competed in four meets for the Salukis...Notched
two top-ten finishes with his best finish coming at the
Saluki Invitational, where he finished fifth with a time of
26:10.9.

Competed in all seven events during the 2010
season...Won the SIU Early Bird with a time of 19:38.40...
Also took top ten finishes at the EIU Panther Open (third)
and the Saluki Invitational (sixth)...Set a personal-best 8K
time at the Bradley Classic with a time of 25:09.00, good
for 35th place...Named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team.
2009:
Participated in one event during the 2009 season,
where he finished seventh at the Saluki Early Bird with a
time of 19:51.3.
High School:
Was named the Southern Illinoisan Runner
of the Year as a junior and senior...Won conference and
regional championships twice in cross country...Captured
a sectional title in cross country as a senior...Set the school
record for 3200m, while also winning the conference and
sectional title in the 3200 and 1600...Finished second
at state as a senior in 3200...Has a personal best time of
9:26.14 in the 3200m...Only participated in track two
years.
Personal:
Majoring in accounting and minoring in busi-
ness management...Son of Doug and Lisa Cherry...Has five
brothers and four sisters...Participated in mission trips to
